Ward Eight - Classic Boston Cocktail

Above: The classic Ward Eight cocktail was originally created in Boston.  This mix is very similar to a Whisky Sour with
an addition of grenadine.  We garnished the cocktail with a maraschino cherry in each glass.  You can also use a lemon
or orange wedge as an alternative or additional garnish.

Ingredients
3 shots top shelf whisky
2 shots lemon juice
1 shot simple syrup
1/2 shot grenadine
maraschino cherries (for garnish)
ice cubes

Utensils and Supplies
cocktail shaker
cocktail strainer
shot glasses
rocks or low-ball glasses (for serving)

This drink recipe has four ingredients, grenadine, top shelf whisky, lemon juice and simple syrup.  You'll also need
maraschino cherries for garnish, if desired.

Measure three shots of top shelf whisky, two shots of lemon juice, one shot of simple syrup and 1/2 shot of grenadine.
We used two ounce shot glasses, so this mix will be enough for two or three cocktails, depending on the size of glass used.

Fill the cocktail shaker 2/3 full of ice cubes.

Pour in the whisky.

Add the lemon juice.

Pour in the simple syrup.

Pour in the grenadine.

Place lid on shaker securely.  Shake mixture vigorously until the cocktail shaker becomes very cold.

Remove cap and lid from shaker.  Use a strainer and pour mixture into rocks or low-ball glasses over ice cubes.

Garnish with a maraschino cherry in each drink, if desired.  Serve immediately.
