sour cream (optional, for topping)

Utensils and Supplies

small bowls
plate, (for serving)

Above: This easy recipe has only five ingredients, (six if you use sour cream as a topping).

Above: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lay out chips on a baking sheet.  We used chips from a bag, you can deep-fry your
own tortilla chips if you prefer.

Above: Chop jalapeno into a small dice, after removing seeds and membrane.  Chop onion into a small dice.  Remove
the beans from can and place in a small bowl.  Use a spoon to stir the beans well.  Be sure any liquid is incorporated.

Above: Swipe a generous spoonful of black refried beans on each tortilla chip.

Above: Place a spoonful of chopped onion on each chip.

Above: Add a few pieces of jalapeno to each nacho.

Above: Sprinkle on grated cheese.  We used a four cheese blend from a package, you can use whatever cheese or cheese
blend that are you prefer.  Cheddar and Monterey jack are always good choices.

Place the baking sheet in the oven on the center rack.  Bake for 15 minutes, then check to see if the cheese is melted.
If not, allow nachos to bake for another five minutes, for a total of 20 minutes.

Above: When the nachos come out of the oven the cheese should be melted and the chips should be lightly browned.

Above: Nachos can be served right away.

Above: Sour cream makes a refreshing topping for the KQ black bean nachos.
