     KQ Tomato Bread

 



Above: This fresh bread dough makes a flavorful and colorful loaf of bread.

 

Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 six ounce can tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 package yeast
2/3 cup water

Utensils and Supplies
measuring cups
measuring spoons

bread machine

loaf pan
paper towels
cooling rack
non-stick cooking spray

Above: Set the bread machine according to the manufacturer directions.  We set the machine for "manual" which will
mix, knead and allow the dough to rise, but will not bake it.  Begin by adding the yeast to the bread machine.



Above: Add the flour.



Above: Add the salt.



Add the sugar.


Above: Add oil to the bread machine.


Add tomato paste.


Add water.


Start bread machine.


Above: The bread machine will incorporate the ingredients.



Above: Spray a glass or metal loaf pan with cooking spray.


Above: When the dough is ready, remove from bread machine.


Above: Shape the dough into a rectangle.



Above: Place dough into the greased loaf pan.


Above: Cover dough with a paper towel and allow the loaf to rise for 30 to 60 minutes.  How long the loaf will take
to rise will depend on the temperature and humidity in your kitchen.  Loaf should double in volume.



Above: When the dough has risen, it's time to bake the loaf.


Place the loaf on the center rack of the oven heated to 375 degrees.



Bake the loaf for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned.


Above: Allow the loaf to cool in the baking pan for 10-15 minutes.


Remove the loaf from the baking pan and continue cooling on a rack.  Slice and enjoy.


The KQ Tomato Bread is excellent on it's own and also makes a great foundation for a tartine or sandwich.
