     KQ Colored Sugar

Above: Colored sugar is easy to make and great for all kinds of uses, such as cookie and cake decor.  We used green
sugar to rim the glasses for the
Jade Cocktail.

1-2 drops food coloring
1/2 cup sugar

Utensils and Supplies
measuring cup
jar with tight fitting lid

Colored sugar is fast and easy to make.

Measure one half cup of white granulated sugar.

Pour sugar in to a jar.

Put 1 or 2 drops of food coloring depending on the shade of color you want.  Do not use more than three drops or the
mixture will become too wet for most uses.

Place the lid on the jar securely.  Shake the jar very vigorously until the coloring distributes throughout the sugar.

We used this green sugar to rim the glasses when making the
Jade Cocktail.  This technique requires wetting the edge
of the glass with a citrus wedge.

Then simply dip the glass in a plate with a shallow layer of sugar.
